Henry Willis was an 18-year-old who bought a ghost-gun building kit online from Husky Armory LLC and its parent company, Up North Media LLC, in July 2023. Neither company was a licensed firearms dealer, and the sale skipped the background check and age-verification steps a licensed dealer would have required. Six days after the kit arrived, Henry died by suicide on July 30, 2023, using a handgun built from it. Husky Armory and Up North Media failed to respond to the lawsuit, and the court entered a default judgment against them. The jury awarded the family of Henry Willis $4.2 million in economic damages and $100 million in punitive damages, for a total verdict of $104.2 million.
