New Year’s Eve Uber Campaign Was a Huge Success

Thanks to you, Louisville, almost 100 residents pledged to get home safe this New Year’s Eve. Thomas Law Offices ran a campaign this year to give away 25 free Uber passes to Louisville residents wishing to celebrate on New Year’s Eve while keeping our roads as safe as possible. These residents pledged to get home after ringing in 2017 without getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol.

We’re happy to announce that the campaign was a tremendous success. We received nearly 100 pledges after word got out about our campaign on Louisville’s WAVE 3 News and WHAS 11 News stations.

Free Uber Ride this New Year’s Eve for Louisville Residents

Did you know that 1,418 car accidents in 2015 occurred as a result of alcohol impairment in the state of Kentucky? 162 of these crashes resulted in fatalities. Every single one of these collisions could have been prevented– and many undoubtedly happened on major holidays such as Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Thanksgiving.

New Year’s Eve is big in Louisville. In downtown Louisville, we do everything in style–whether it’s celebrating the latest college basketball victory or looking forward to the Kentucky Derby. Our holidays are no exception. New Year’s Eve is a night when the downtown bars and restaurants see some of the liveliest celebrations all year. It’s the perfect time for local residents to gather with food, laughter, drinks, friends, and loved ones, but first, we must remember one thing– safety.

Saying Goodbye to 2016 and Hello to New Opportunities

Wow, is 2016 over already? Talk about a busy year that moved quick! But, looking back on the past 12 months, we certainly seem to have done a year’s worth of work and then some. 2016 was a good year for us, and I hope the same was true for you. We helped many clients with cases big and small, continued our fight against Levaquin and its manufacturers, and I announced that I was running for Parliamentarian of the American Association for Justice. At the very end of this year, our own Lindsay Cordes was installed as President of the Women Lawyers Association of Jefferson County.

So here we are — a successful year behind us, and another one on the horizon. And it’s the middle of the holidays, which mean family, friends, and lots of food. At least, that’s what I always look forward to — and what I remember best about Christmas as a kid. Then again, family was always around since we lived on the acreage that my grandfather bought, along with my aunts and uncles. They all built houses on that original plot of land, and Christmas lunch was a high point of the year for us.

Giving Thanks to the Clients of Thomas Law Offices

It’s a good time of year to talk about the things all of us at Thomas Law Offices are thankful for. Thanksgiving is a truly American holiday, and everyone can celebrate it. Whether your family came over in the early days of the nation or were relatively recent immigrants, we can all take this time to be grateful for our history, our stories, and our country. At Thomas Law Offices, we’re always thankful for our own families and for the blessings we’ve had in our lives. But the one thing we’ve been thinking about a lot this year are our clients — and for them, we are very thankful.

Let me tell you a personal story. Being an attorney means that I meet people from all walks of life and represent their interests in our judicial system. I have clients who are rich and clients who are poor. I have clients of all different religions. I have black clients; I have white clients; I have clients who are Latino and clients of Arab descent like myself. In my daily work, I get to know people from every part of town, and each year, I meet people from every part of our country. I love this diversity, and I’m grateful that I get to help all of these people.
