The Edward “Ed” Campbell Annual Missouri Solo/Small Firm Essay Contest

The Law Office of Mike Campbell has joined forces with Thomas Law Offices as of September 1st, 2020. Click here for details.

The Missouri Bar Association’s annual Solo & Small Firm Conference is known as the event in Missouri for lawyers to share ideas, strategies, and build relationships with other lawyers across the state. Since its inception, the Solo & Small Firm Conference has had renowned speakers from across the country provide entertaining, insightful, and educational lectures. Additionally, the conference is more than just an opportunity to learn, it is an opportunity to build bonds and relationships with colleagues.

Thomas Law Offices is proud to recognize the work of fellow Solo & Small firm members across the State who wish to attend this conference with its annual Edward “Ed” Campbell Annual Missouri Solo & Small Firm Essay Contest. Each year participants are asked to complete an essay about a particular topic affecting the legal profession. One winner will be selected and have his/her registration paid for at the Solo & Small Firm Conference.*

This contest is limited to currently practicing attorneys in good standing with the Missouri bar who are in a law practice with three or less practicing attorneys.

The essay contest is named after Edward “Ed” Campbell, who has ran a successful solo/small firm in Kirksville, Missouri for nearly four decades. Mr. Campbell is a veteran, having served his country in the Vietnam War. After returning home from Vietnam, Mr. Campbell attended the University of Missouri Law School. Following graduation, Ed made his home in Kirksville with his wife, Karla, and their three sons. Ed is known among his colleagues as a hardworking, tough, and fair advocate.

To apply for this year’s scholarship, participants are asked to submit an essay on the following topic:

What challenges has COVID placed on your firm and how have you faced those challenges?

Participant essays should be 750 words or less.

Please submit your essay in .doc or .pdf format to Thomas Law Offices, via email at mike.campbell@thomaslawoffices.com. Please use the subject heading “Essay Contest”.

All submissions must be received by July 15, 2020.

*  Winners agree to have their essay displayed on Thomas Law Offices’ website. Each winner will also receive a complimentary honorary “badge” that the winner may also display on his/her own website which demonstrates the recipient’s achievement in winning this contest. The contest winner receives a paid registration fee only and access to CLE materials electronically. The prize does not include costs associated with hotel expenses and/or other travel fees.
