Have You Been Injured? We're Ready to Fight for You.

5 Ways Your Attorney Can Deliver Peace of Mind

Published on Jul 10, 2018 at 12:24 pm in Personal Injury.

When you’ve been injured because of someone’s negligence, you may want to settle the matter as soon as possible. But this may not leave you with the best settlement for your future. Having a personal injury lawyer at your side will give you peace of mind that someone is looking out for your best interests. If you’ve been injured in Kentucky, a Louisville personal injury lawyer from Thomas Law Offices can help you with your claim.

Knowledge in Their Field

Personal injury cases have specific laws that dictate how you should pursue your claim that you may not know about, but your lawyer will. This could be from the state’s statute of limitations, what you need to prove your side of the story, and how to get a favorable outcome. An experienced lawyer who has successfully won cases like yours before will improve your chances of getting the compensation you need.

Provide Emotional Support

A personal injury can have many negative effects on the injured party. Someone may be unable to do their job until their injury heals or they could have a catastrophic injury that will change their lives forever. In a wrongful death case, a lawyer will be helping a grieving family. All these situations are delicate and require a compassionate and understanding person to effectively handle their case.

Fight for Financial Compensation

Your lawyer will know what you should get for your claim. This is extremely difficult to determine on your own because it’s always case specific. You have to account for your injuries, how much your medical bills cost, any missing work, and your pain and suffering from the accident.

If people try to figure this out on their own, they may agree to settle for less than they deserve. Their final settlement may not be enough to cover what the accident costs them. With a lawyer at your side, you’ll know that they’re fighting for the appropriate compensation that will help you cover costs in the future. Knowing that you won’t have to worry about finances will allow you to focus on your recovery.

Hold Responsible Party Accountable

Bringing a claim against a person or a company isn’t easy. Some may try to put some of the blame on you and insist that your accident was partially your fault and therefore the other party shouldn’t owe you compensation. But your lawyer will make sure to find evidence that shows the other party’s negligence and connect that with your injuries. Your lawyer won’t allow the other party to get away with their negligent actions.

Can Take Your Case to Court

While most claims are settled out of court, they can go to court if an agreement isn’t met on a settlement. Juries tend to be in favor of the person going against an insurance company, so that may prompt the other side to want to settle. Having a lawyer will show them that you’re serious, know your rights, and have someone to protect them.

Personal injury lawsuits can be complicated to settle in or outside of trial, but having an experienced attorney can make a complex claim manageable. Unlike what many law firm commercials would have us believe, there’s more to a successful case than sitting back and waiting to say, “My attorney. My hero.” Personal injury claims take time to settle and will require tasks and effort from everyone involved, but having an experienced attorney will make every task 100% more manageable and can deliver that peace of mind you need to move forward.
