After your driving privilege has been revoked, suspended, or denied there are specific steps you must take to get it back. The first is to determine the reason(s) why your license was taken away. You can find this information on the letter you received from the Driver License Bureau when your driving privilege was taken away or on your current Missouri driving record under “Department Actions”.
Second, using the chart found on the Missouri Department of Revenue website, determine the appropriate forms you need to file and the fees you need to pay. If multiple reasons are listed for why your license was taken away, you must file the necessary forms for each reason and pay each associated fee.
Reinstating your license may also require that you take specific action, such as retaking the driving skills and knowledge test, taking a Substance Abuse Traffic Offenders Program (SATOP), or installing an ignition interlock device. If your record shows that you have not fulfilled the necessary time requirements of your suspension, you may still have options.
If your license was taken away for a year or more due to multiple driving while intoxicated (DWI) offenses, you may be able to petition to reinstate you license early. In special cases a partial reinstatement may be granted to allow driving to specific locations only, such as to work and school. These early reinstatement decisions are based on your current conviction, prior offenses, and good behavior.
After you file a petition in the county where you received the conviction, the court will review your case. While visiting Kentucky with friends for a week of deer hunting I visited a local restaurant. The floor was mopped with no signs placed to warn customers.
