I-64 Kentucky Crash Sends Two Victims to Hospital

Published on Oct 19, 2011 at 4:21 pm in Auto Accident.

A Wave3 TV article reports that a three-vehicle crash occurred on Thursday night near exit 35 on Interstate 64. The Kentucky State Police said a pickup truck and a tractor trailer crashed into each other just after 9:00 p.m. The car crash in Kentucky occurred in the eastbound lanes and caused both vehicles to hit the middle barrier of the overpass. A semi driver, who was driving in the westbound lane, swerved to avoid the other vehicles and crashed. One person was airlifted to the hospital and another was taken to the hospital by ambulance after the crash. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

While the cause of this accident has not been determined, there are several common causes of automobile accidents. They include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Distraction due to the use of cell phones and other mobile devices
  • Failure to pay attention to the road
  • Driving at unsafe speeds
  • Failing to yield to other drivers
  • Running red lights and stop signs
  • Driving on the wrong side of the highway
  • Making improper turns (e.g., turning the wrong way on a one-way street)

If you are involved in an accident, stop even if it seems minor. The other driver could be injured, or there could be more extensive damage than you realize. Show your driver’s license, registration card, and insurance card to the responding police officer. If you do not have proof of financial responsibility, you could be fined. Reporting the accident to the police will help you in the event you have to file a lawsuit against the other driver.
